When, in 1993, George RR Martin tried to sell to publishers the "epic" story that he had begun to write, the imagined plot was very different than the one portrayed at the end of the HBO television series, broadcast last Sunday.
Long before he was one of the world's best-known authors, he wrote a letter to his agent, Ralph Vicinanza, where he summed up his ideas for the saga A Song of Ice and Fire, initially imagined as a trilogy. Now that the television series is over, the letter has been revealed.
