The archaeologists' first estimates point to the clay board dating from the 3rd century, in Roman times.
A plaque with 13 verses from a Odyssey rhapsody recorded was found in Olympia, the Greek Ministry of Culture said on Tuesday.
According to the statement, the plaque may be the earliest inscription of Homero"s work already discovered.
It is a fragment that describes the return of Ulysses to the island of Ithaca and the reunion with his servant Eumeo.
