The Angolan government says that the proposal discussed in Portugal makes sense and that it was already making an inventory to estimate how many pieces were illegally removed from the country.

The Angolan Government also intends the return of cultural heritage with origin in Angola that can be found in Portuguese museums. The statement was made by the Secretary of State for Culture, Aguinaldo Cristóvão, who says that "it makes sense for Portugal to reflect on the return of the museum heritage exported from Angola".

Aguinaldo Cristóvão said to TSF that the reasons are several, underlining Portugal's belonging to international conventions on historical heritage, namely "the convention on the ban of illicit export of cultural goods and the UNESCO convention on exports in cases of armed conflicts".
